Why I am supporting FND awareness
My name is Rob. In November 2024, I was diagnosed with Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) after noticing symptoms in March 2024. Before the diagnosis, doctors wrongly said I was faking my symptoms and told me it was “all in my head.” I also faced misunderstanding and teasing from other patients who did not understand what I was going through.
At my lowest point, even with walking aids, I would lose strength in my legs and fall four to five times daily, managing only short distances. Frequently, I was immobilized on the floor for 20 minutes to two hours, unable to move or call for help. Today, thanks to the support of my partner and a committed medical team, I am gradually reclaiming the person I was before FND.
I am deeply committed to raising awareness about Functional Neurological Disorder because I want to prevent others from experiencing the same challenges I faced. My goal is to inspire hope by showing that symptom remission is possible. Together, one step at a time, we can create meaningful change.
About the cause
Millions of people worldwide live with Functional Neurological Disorder (FND), a life-altering condition that disrupts movement, sensation, and cognitive function. Despite its prevalence, FND remains one of the most misunderstood and underfunded neurological conditions.
